Which parts of Fairfield should be protected from the parking ban?
The threat isn't static — it's expanding.
Starting July 1, developers can build up to 15 units on any commercial or mixed-use lot in Fairfield with zero required parking. Developers are already requesting zone changes to convert residential lots to commercial — on Reef Road, Stillson Road, Black Rock Turnpike, and John Street. Once a lot is rezoned, it becomes permanently eligible for the parking ban. The town can protect just 8% of its land — two zones of up to 4% each. Pick your top 4 priorities.
You only get 8% — every choice is a tradeoff

The parking ban applies to residential projects under 16 units on commercial or mixed-use lots. Areas with more commercial zoning face the most development pressure. We'll flag areas where protection probably isn't needed so you can make an informed choice.
